Music Is My Therapy.

So recently I have been thinking a lot about this!! Music is my therapy! It’s able to change my mood, relax me, give me some energy and make me smile. I have such a broad music taste, and what I listen to depends on my mood. One of my previous cars had a stereo which had a USB port. My USB literally contained most of my music at the time and you could select random and it would play tracks in a random order…..only in my car could you go from dub step, to Disney, to rock, to happy hardcore to country and most things in between.

There really is a song, or even a genre for every feeling and I am that girl who will listen to a song on repeat over and over if I can relate!! Sometimes you can feel sad and a song with happy vibes which you can sing along too, and maybe even have a cheeky dance can be enough to lift your mood. Other times you need to embrace the sadness and blast out music that makes you feel that you are not alone, that someone else is feeling these things too.

I have fond memories of car trips listening to music and singing along with friends. I often hear these songs and can smile at the memories they trigger, the road trips, the dance routines and the nights out.

Over the last few years, I have been learning how to DJ and we have decks and speakers all set up in our loft. I am even starting to play at some events in real life which is something I am super proud of as my self-confidence isn’t always the best. I regularly stream my mixing sessions on Twitch, an online streaming platform predominantly for gamers, and occasionally also upload a mix to Sound Cloud. I play mostly happy hardcore and hard dance music and often attend raves and events all over the UK.

Through music I have met so many wonderful people and I am lucky enough to have some amazing friends, all over the country, who without music I probably wouldn’t have met!

Hardcore raves are some of the most colourful and friendly places. A lot of ravers make colourful Kandi bracelets out of beads and exchange them with others. You can also buy these bracelets at events often with names or words on them, I like to collect them as a reminder of events I have attended.

I recently went to see Taylor Swift in Cardiff and it was such an amazing experience. Throughout Taylor’s tour, fans have been doing something similar and swapping friendship bracelets. These bracelets often have song lyrics or song titles on them. Being a part of this made you feel like everyone was united and got you talking to people you otherwise wouldn’t have necessarily spoken to. It was like you were spreading a little bit of positivity!!

These two things are the inspiration behind my new bracelet range. Here at My Custom Designs, we are all about positivity!! Why not wear a positive affirmation, word or quote around your wrist. Often seeing a positive word or phrase can be enough to remind us that we have got this!! These bracelets also make fab gifts for someone that needs that reminder or for someone going through a hard time. So spread your own positivity with our colourful bracelets!

I am currently working on new products linked to my love of music and how song lyrics can make us feel, as well as organizing a charity music event on Twitch in memory of my best friend Zoe and to raise money for Mind. Music really can bring us all together 🙂
