Wow!! Is all I can say 🙂
So, if you follow me over on my socials or have read my previous blog posts you will know that I have been doing some fundraising for Mind, the mental health charity. On the 11th of January I held my first ever in real life event in the form of a charity rave. A group of 9 DJ’s, including myself, came together in Exeter to raise some valuable funds for an amazing cause.
I have said it before, but I really do believe that music is the best therapy, especially as it can unite people from all backgrounds. I have met many friends through music who I probably would never have met otherwise. Whenever I feel a bit stressed or sad music has the ability to lift me up.
Obviously I totally underestimated what was involved in planning and organizing an event but for a first event it went so well 🙂 One of the things I loved the most is how open and honest people were about their own struggles. It was nice to hear people so passionate about removing the stigma behind mental health. It really enforced the message to me that we aren’t alone.
We all had an amazing night of music, friendship, and dancing whilst raising a total of £237.59 for Mind. This takes the grand total so far to £860.59.
Mental health awareness is a massive passion of mine so I am pleased to announce that the next confirmed event will take place on Sunday 6th July, Music for Mind, The Garden Party, which will be a private party streamed online.
